A one-of-a-kind statement pendant, formed entirely by hand — and finished on both sides.

The deep, almost-molten red at its heart is real copper, hand-raised in repoussé — the ancient art of hammering and pushing metal into relief from the back — then brought to life with a heat patina: fiery reds, plums, and bronze coaxed from bare metal with nothing but a torch and timing. Because the color is born in the flame, no two pieces are ever alike, and this one can never be exactly repeated.

The sculpted copper sits in a hand-textured sterling silver bezel with a scalloped edge. The pendant is reversible — turn it over and the back is a hand-formed leaf impression in silver, finished as beautifully as the front, so it can be worn either way.

Handmade by Bob Boscarelli — field paleontologist and silversmith & lapidary working from Soquel, California. He studied jewelry at Cabrillo College under Dawn Nakanishi, whose rule stuck with him: make the back as nice as the front.
